On December 22, 2020, members of ATU Local 241, Local 308 and supporting riders took a stand outside of the union office for the largest local with employees at the Chicago Transit Authority. The demand was simple: The members need virtual union meetings.
This means with all the privileges afforded them as if they were at in-person meetings. Not livestreaming on private groups that are for members who do not agitate or criticize leadership. Not with censored questions and answers. Not where elected leadership can be directed to provide information about our unions. No. We need to be able to pass motions, vote on grievances, vote on spending and more.
See the Justice Coalition public Facebook Page for a report with video from that day.
Help choose the location for the next protest in February. Register for our next organizing meeting.
