This episode is the second part of a conversation between Priscilla Archangel, Ph.D., founder of Archangel & Associates, and EverythingHR host Felicia G. Harris. They discuss how to display a professional presence that reflects your authentic self. Priscilla, is a leadership consultant, organizational development consultant, executive coach and author with over 30-years of Fortune 10 experience.

Priscilla has held a variety of strategic global human resource executive roles at General Motors over the course of her 30+ year career there, focusing on leadership development, talent management, talent acquisition, coaching, change management, culture change, performance management, organization development and HR operations.

In this episode, they discuss how business professionals trying to move their careers forward must balance their own desires and interests with the expectations of others in their work environment around appearance, style, communications and behaviors.

Every organization has an expectation of the presence their employees or team members should convey. The goal, of course, is to communicate confidence in one’s ability to perform and deliver results, and to ensure alignment with their culture.

Authenticity is an awareness of one’s own values, preferences and strengths; and the ability to genuinely communicate them in interactions with others, particularly in the process of attaining a goal. People who behave in authentic ways display greater energy, are more engaged in their work, more in touch with their feelings and needs, and connect better with others.
