As a psychotherapist, I have often advised people who are depressed or otherwise upset in their life to do “Selfless Service.” “Selfless Service” involves doing for others, without concern for what we might get out of it. Zach Skow set about doing for others—dogs who have been deserted, maimed, tortured, lost or otherwise traumatized. He did think he’d help himself get past his own debilitating issues in life by doing this work, yet it’s likely he never realized just what his efforts would actually become! He started Marley’s Mutts….and the rest is history. He’s so busy we’re lucky to have him take time to be on Full Power Living.

As an 18 year old, my daughter, Liz, was driving on the freeway near Maybelle, Colorado many years ago. She saw something moving on the side of the highway, and stopped to investigate. In a cloth sack were two young puppies, one dead and one alive. It was clear someone had tied them in the sack and then tossed it from a moving vehicle, hoping to kill them both. Liz drove to a veterinarian in the next town, had the surviving pup examined, and brought home the sweetest, most amazing dog. Maybelle lived with Liz and our family for many years. She even became a “college dog,” teaching Rhetoric and Communication classes with Liz at UC Davis in California. If you’ve ever wished “someone” would help unwanted and hurt dogs, look no further. Listen to his incredible story! Discover “Marley’s Mutts” with me this week. Click here to visit Zach Skow's website, Marley's Mutts!
