Maintaining Emotional Balance Even When Things Aren’t “Right” Many years ago, I got myself some vanity license plates that read “EmotBal”. Those words stand for “emotional balance,” something I aspired to achieve. I wanted to be reminded. Why, I had asked myself, do I need to have emotional highs and lows when things happen in life? Especially things that happen over and over, things I anticipated, things for which I hoped? Instead, I wanted to maintain myself on an even keel, no matter what was occurring in life. Overall, it worked; and I maintain balance most of the time. Join me this week as we look at what you can do to achieve these results without having to pay the extra fees for the vanity plates!
How does your brain interpret information? In this election season, it’s important to know how our brains “reach across the aisle” to collaborate, bringing both left brain and right brain into play. Especially when we want to unlock innovation and discovery. If you’re ready to move past this long-accepted generalization about how our brain works—that people tend to gravitate to one side of our brain more than the other—join me for this discussion with science writer Ransom Stephens. Discover with me how our brain enables prejudice to emerge, and how we can recognize and quash prejudice. I’ll be ready for this “cleansing” by November 17th, won’t you?
