Manda Zand Ervin fled her native Iran for the United States in 1980 after the Islamic revolution the previous year overthrew Iran's nationalist, pro-Western shah and installed a brutal Islamic theocracy. Ervin has made the fight against the Islamic Republic's human rights abuses her life's work by founding the Alliance of Iranian Women and making numerous appearances as a speaker and author. Her latest work is the new book The Ladies’ Secret Society: History of the Courageous Women of Iran. Ervin will join show host Andrew E. Harrod to discuss the history of Iran's Islamic Republic, its role in global politics, and what future prospects exist for its downfall
