Islam in Focus--"Pro-Israel" J Street Slams Israel

In the combined Washington, DC, offices of the leftist New Israel Fund and Americans for Peace Now, the ostensibly "pro-Israel" J Street cohosted the co-general managers of the Parents Circle--Families Forum (PCFF), Israeli Jew Rami Elhanan and Palestinian Bassam Aramin.  Like other PCFF members, Elhanan and Aramin have both lost loved ones to Arab-Israeli violence.  A Hamas suicide bombing killed Elahanan's 14-year old daughter Smadar in Jerusalem's September 4, 1997, Ben Yehuda Street bombing, while a stray bullet from an Israeli policeman in 2007 killed Aramin's 10-year old daughter Abir during confrontations with Palestinians.  The two fathers have provided the basis for the new historical novel Apeirogon by Colum McCann.  Despite PCFF's claims of wanting to bring Israeli and Palestinians together, PCFF angers most Israelis by equating Israeli losses due to jihadists who seek Israel's destruction, like Smadar, with casualities like Abir resulting from Israel's self-defense against Arabs like Aramin, who spent seven years in Israeli jails for an attempted attack on Israeli soldiers.  Meanwhile Aramin's panel comments indicated that PCFF has done nothing to mitigate the implacable jihadist hatred for Israel that dominates Israeli society.  Show host Andrew E.
