Our Terms of Use and Privacy Policy have changed. We think you'll like them better this way.
Very few of us could go through life without approval from our friends, our family, SOMEONE, for crying out loud! We need approval from our superiors, our audiences to prosper. None-the-less, how important approval is can be an issue we need to resolve to know the liberty of being us - wonderful, expressive, intelligent, us.
If we cannot give ourselves permission to be who we truly are - let our authentic selves out and admit that, in fact, Aunt Margaret's meatloaf is a culinary toxic waste dump, then we have a problem. No one can please everyone all of the time and sometimes it is very liberating to say, "I am so thankful that you took the time to cook this for me, Aunt Margaret. The thing is, I am afraid I am fully addicted to your shrimp scampi!" We have just told the truth in a kind way.
In more important matters, can we find the courage to risk the disapproval of our loved ones and be who we are by saying what we believe and feel and think even if those in our lives think we have taken leave of our senses? If we do, we are free...and so are they! Now we are transparent and then they can choose to do the same!
Join Ellen Hartwell and John Warren today as they discuss how to gently relieve yourselves of a huge need to be approved of and to gently enter a world of freedom that, we promise, is only a little bit scary!
