“On January 3, 2005, my husband Roy received a life-changing telephone call from Saddleback church led by pastor Rick Warren, who asked him to be tsunami Relief Coordinator for tsunami-ravaged Indonesia which had taken the lives of more than 285,000 people on December 26, 2004.

Roywas responsible for bringing volunteer teams and distribute funds that Saddleback church collected to Banda Aceh, the capital of Aceh province. Louise quit her job June 2006 and started helping Roy, when the contract with Saddleback ended in 2006, Roy & Louise wanted to continue helping tsunami survivors so they started with bringing some samples of the embroidered handbags they found made by local artisans, Louise had a home party, and from that point on Laga Handbags started growing.

The handbag factory started with 12 women August 2006, today Laga is able to support over 300 in Aceh province, Sumatra, Indonesia, and Laga continues to grow leaps and bounds. His wife Louise tells the rest of my story much “On January 3, 2005, my husband Roy received a life-changing telephone call from Saddleback church led by pastor Rick Warren, who asked him to be tsunami Relief Coordinator for tsunami-ravaged Indonesia which had taken the lives of more than 285,000 people on December 26, 2004.
