Today's parenting has changed, and so has today's youth. The age-old challenges a parent faces has been expanded to acquire the massive new pressures and society changes of today. The parent-child conflicts of the yester-year have mutated to outright parent-child warfare in which children will rise up against their parents without a second thought. As a result, today's parents tend to "give In" a lot easier. Children get rewards without earning, they operate with name brand expectations without understanding how to respect their parents efforts to obtain these things. How did we as parents become so submissive? Many explanations have emerged to shed light on the situation, and the most common denominator leads back to parents feeling guilty for various reasons. Whether it's restricted finances, single parenthood, poor housing accomodations, or lack of time to spend with our children, we tend to either digress or overcompensate to assauge our guilt. Join in tonight to share your thoughts on how to take guilt out of the equation and put our best foot forward in parenting.
