SPONSORED BY MARK PITTMAN--Continuing our discussion on the capitalization and marketing of the tragedies, struggles and degradation of African-Americans...tonight we add a few subjects on the table, including the distasteful distribution of a clothing line of blood-stained sweatshirts by Urban Outfitting for Kent State University, and the case of Marvin Louis Guy, an African-American who is facing capital murder charges and possibly the death penalty for shooting a police officer whose pre-dawn entry into Guy's window awakened him.  The sweatshirts created outcry for the insensitivity and tasteless reminder of the Kent State shootings that killed four white students, going so far as to criticize the line to the point of its removal. Those students were memorialized publicly..while the sister protests, the Jackson State killings, which consisted of African-American protesters, protesting the same political move, and had two African-American casualties--received little detailed publicity and very dismissive mentions of the two victims' names.
