The Slowdown of the NYPD is one subject that sparks heated debates from both supporters and opposers of the action. The reasons given by the police for this decision certainly validate their action...IF the shadows of their horrendous crimes against the very public they are sworn to protect and serve weren't looming over the issue like an eerie black cloud. Both the police officers of our nation, and the public, have a fundamental right to live in safety, but the crucial difference between the two groups is that one of the groups volunteered for paid positions which include danger as a package deal. While the police are forbidden from participating in a strike, they certainly are entitled to pursuing avenues to address unfair conditions they may suffer beyond the scope of their duties.
