School closings, the newest thorn in the side of quality public school education for minorities and poor families, are on the hotseat tonight. Tonight, I will be interviewing Bronx, NY's super advocating parent, Bonnie Heffner...who has begun a petition to stop an unjust attempt by the City of New York to close a Bronx school without giving the new principle even a year's tenure in her position. The officials are using old school data, and scrutinizing the struggles of the school caused by deliberate withholding of funding to the school as justification for the impending decision to close a school kids and parents feel is actually doing well. I encourage any NYC parent, ESPECIALLY the parents of the Foreign Language Academy of Global Studies (FLAGS) High School in Bronx, NY to call in and join in the on-air petition created by fellow parent Bonnie Heffner. Listen in and/or join in by calling 347-327-9967 at 10:30 PM EST.
