Who are you? Where did you come from?  What does your history say about you?  Whether you were adopted or not how you came into being informs who you are now.  The truth is your genes have probably told you a lot about the people you came from.  Check out this wonderful Trailer: Closure (2013)

And another incredible movie about closure: Antwone Fisher

While these trailers are about adoptees or orphans, which illuminate just how necessary closure may be in life, closure can be needed for many other things.

Maybe you are still upset about how a sibling broke something you held precious when you were children.  Maybe you still do not understand why your parents never took you to visit your grandparents who lived 5 blocks away as if they were ghosts or dead. Maybe, as happens in many relationships, you do not understand why a spouse or lover wanted out when you thought things were going so well.  Not finding closure or better yet creating it in some fashion may keep your life out of the positive trajectory you are hoping for.

Psychology Todays Suggests 5 ways to find closure:

  • Take Responsibility for the reasons you have not let go
  • Accept & express your grief about it
  • Find a way to make a positive of the experience
  • Move forward for your future
  • Create a goodbye ritual

Look at the things in your past that you did not understand or still feel hurt from and let's work toward closure.  Your very heart, mind, body...life may depend on your making you more important than that situation!
