One of the reasons that I do this show involves one of the most important people in my life...Donnie Berry, my mother. If she and my dad hadn't done what they did...welI I woudln't be here doing what I do. Independent of my birth, my mother has led an incredible life and she turns 84 June 30th just a day before this interview. She was born in the South, Shreveport, Louisiana and when she graduated at a mere aged 16 from high school her family moved North to Seattle, Washingtron. I thought about all the things a person who lived in both cultures through many civil rights changes in this country and realized my mother probably could illuminated some of those changes from her unique point of view.
