Guest Bio: Dr Barry C. Black was elected the 62nd Chaplain of the U.S. Senate in 2003, providing counseling & spiritual care for Senators, their families and staff -- a combined constituency of over 7,000 people. Prior to Capitol Hill, Chaplain Black served in the U.S, Navy for over 27 years, ending his distinguished career as a Rear Admiral and Chief of Navy Chaplains. Chaplain Black's personal decorations include the Navy Distinguished Service Medal, the Legion of Merit Medal and the Defense Meritorious Service Medal. Of particular note among his many awards, he was chosen from 127 nominees for the 1995 NAACP Renowned Service Award for his contributions to equal opportunity & civil rights. He authored his autobiobraphy "From the Hood to the Hill" in 2006. In 2011 "The Blessing of Adversity" and an anticipated release in 2017, "Nothing to Fear." Chaplain Black and his wife Brenda have three sons, Barry II, Brendan and Bradford.
