Fred Tonnies is a pharmacist who is working as the Pharmacy Coordinator for the 7 Mental Health hospitals in Missouri. He is married to Kathleen Tonnies and they had two children and four grandchildren. He first became interested in stocks when he joined a stock club in Columbia Missouri, which required him to join BetterInvesting and he was in the Kansas City Chapter Region. The KC Chapter would send members to Columbia to teach BI members and clubs on investing using the BetterInvesting methods. He then moved to the St. Louis area where he was elected President of the St. Louis Chapter. He joined two investment clubs, attended the Model Investment Club (MIC) and finding he has gained a lot of hands-on education on stock selection by being around other BetterInvesting members.
In the past he had all his IRA and Roth accounts in mutual funds and owned no individual stocks. Today he has transitioned from mutual funds to stocks and now all accounts have 100 % stocks in them. He is now self-directing his own account which he found takes a lot of personnel time. He has adjusted to this time involvement by owning some of the stocks selections that his club has purchased. This has freed up more personnel time.
The people that he has met thru his membership in the clubs has been good. They have helped him to gain information and friendship from the members to make the chapter better now and in the future.
