The Landmark Black Black Bookstore was one of the Foundation, Independent Black Institutions that changed the entire way that Black people, Published, Distributed and Printed their own Literature.
Actually more than a Bookstore, UBUS Books & Things was just one "store" that had a presence in the downtown Hampton, VA., 10,000 sq fet of Retail and Wholesale space: A large Health Food Store, Harambee Home School, 2-press Printing Shop, Bindery as well as a department where books & things were mailed to buyers, both retail and retail around the world.
The store is re-opened under the new management of Terrance Moore-El, a young entrepreneur, who is one of several Scholars partly empowered by The Khalifah Doctrine, to wit:
To Empower sincere, conscious Black Youth With Whatever We Possess and/or Represent That They Can Effectively Use to Further Their Own Ideals, Dreams, Ambitions and Aspirations.
That They May Be Tooled to “Do For Self.” The Thought is That When They Do For Self, They Will be Independent of White Supremacy Doctrine and Free to Practice Self Determination as an Upright Black Man and Woman.
