The truth is that Semjase was sitting at the table. When she heard the sound from the door she wanted to leave and stood up, but with one of her feet she was caught by the table leg, which was the reason why she fell upon the portable electric iron stove which was damaged by her fall. Billy himself also jumped up, heard her faint cry and saw her head crashing against the wall--just before she vanished.
