Why do you Believe what you believe?

Beliefs are fascinating.  You can take a group of people and not one will believe or perceive an event in the exact same way.  

Why is this? are some beliefs passed down?  Are we being exposed to too much and our beliefs are sometimes distorted? 

I am very superstitions, does not always make practical sense but it is true for me.  Do you have some that you cannot seem to shake?   Do you beleive they are real or do you not want to take the chance ?  

Belief in a divine being is prevalent in most cultures.  It may have different personalities but it could be one energy.   Are we all connected that way?  Through a complex belief system that we are not completely aware of?
