Is your doctor on MySpace, Facebook or Twitter? Social media is expanding as a health information source for women as e-patients, consumers and caregivers with almost half of women on-line seeking health and wellness information and product reviews. But, have you ever thought that your physician might be using social media? If the thought frightens you, let me fill you in. Unlike patients themselves, no doctor would violate patient privacy laws just to be a hot shot on twitter or facebook. Yet, there ARE a growing number of doctors who have innovated social media to benefit their patients and their practices. Learn about how two doctors, Jen Dyer, MD and Jeff Livingston, MD have embraced social media as a professional medium that facilitates patient care, creates opportunities for professional growth, and builds patient relationships. Both have around 2,000 followers on twitter and a penchant for health communications.
