Gaea Star Crystal Radio Hour with Mariam Massaro
Gaea Star Crystal Radio Hour #188 is taped on a beautiful autumn day at Singing Bridge Studio in Worthington, MA and features the Gaea Star Band- Mariam Massaro on vocals, acoustic guitar, native flute, baritone ukelele and percussion, Dameron Midgett on acoustic guitar, banjo, fiddle, mandolin and didjeridoo, Robert Sherwood on piano and congas and Craig Harris on congas and marimba. Today’s first piece is “Bright Star”, a sprawling, inventive meditation on the moon featuring evocative poetry from Mariam. Next up is the driving “Serpentina”, a jazzy improv with rocking native flute interjections from Mariam and a steady, compelling rhythm backing from Bob and Craig. After the break, the expansive “Windaygo”, a pretty, multi-movement piece about a native horse spirit that walks between the worlds takes us all the way to the end of the show on a cloud of lush, unhurried improvisation.
