Akira Brown and LaTrice Clayburn are the first students to be interviewed in a series entitled, Focus on African American College Students. 

Akira Brown, born and raised in the Washington, DC Metropolitan area, is a 19 year old rising sophomore at Northeastern University with a major in Behavioral Neuroscience.  Akira’s passions for life and learning are easily recognized by her campus involvement with the Northeastern Black Student Association, Minority Association of Pre-Health Students, and Ujima Scholars Program.

LaTrice Clayburn, born and raised in the Washington, DC Metropolitan area, is a 21 year old rising sophomore at Livingstone College with a major in Business, a concentration on entrepreneurship, and a minor in math.  LaTrice’s passions for life and learning are easily recognized by her campus involvement as a LC Peer educator for sex education and drug and alcohol safety.  As a sophomore, she will be a manager of the football team and a Resident Assistant.

Today’s African American college students have unique stories, interesting perspectives on life, and they are preparing themselves for leadership in a plethora of ways.
