When someone portrays themselves to be something, does it discredit them if they have somewhat conflicting interests in another area or areas?
Consider these examples:
A Pro-Black activist that is in a interracial relationship.
A man of the cloth that has a collection of or visits a strip club from time to time.
A doctor that experiments with recreational drugs.
Married couples that participate in swinging.
Lawyers that that are found not defend their clients effectively if they don't get all their money.
These are just a few examples and of course there are may others that could be considered to be going against the grain. Do any of these examples discredit a person from getting the respect that they may have built up? Is it always necessary to live up to the standards that others have set for you? Are you responsible for the way that people look at you? Is a fall from grace anyone's fault besides your own?
