"Joseph Brown (born July 5, 1947) known as Judge Brown, is an American lawyer and television personality. He is a former Shelby Couty, Tennessee. Criminal Court judge and a former arbiter of the arbitration-based reality court show, Judge Joe Brown".

1. His show premiered on Saptember 14, 1998 and was the first African American television judge.
2. Judge Joe Brown was the longest serving African American television arbitrator. That record is now held by Judge Greg Mathis.
3. His courtroom set stood right beside Judge Judy's, at the Sunset Bronson Studios in Los Angeles.
4. He rose to national fame while serving as the judge during the final appeal of convicted Martin Lither King, Jr. assassin, James Earl Ray.
