Although we often put it in the neat box of spa days, massages and bubble baths. Through her studies of Black Feminist, Audre Lorde’s cancer journals, Dr. Morillo shares her own experiences. 

We explore her personal self-care journey through grad school. She like many women grasps the concept intellectually but didn’t implement it on a personal level until afterward. Yoga is what helped her to continue her doctorate degree.

Dr. Kara Morillo is a feminist scholar, educator, speaker, and facilitator. She is committed to promoting diversity, gender equity, and social awareness through the power of literature and mindful language. She earned her PhD in English Language and Literature at the University of Maryland, with a certificate in Women's and Gender Studies. Her work focuses on amplifying literary voices from underrepresented groups in the United States.
