It is said that Hip Hop is a young man's game, but after 40 years in music, it is safe to say that Hip Hop needs to grow up in order to reach the next level. Often classic Hip Hop artists are forgotten or dismissed simply because they are staying true to their brand of the art form. Others look to conform to the more contemporary forms of Hip Hop adopted by a much younger audience. With a few exceptions like Phonte, Rapper Big Pooh, Killer Mike, and most recently T.I.'s latest effort, Hip Hop has become defined as "being in the moment," and not encompassing and embracing those who still wave the flag for it proudly into their middle ages.
