While 300 million people practice yoga globally and there are numerous yoga nonprofit organizations worldwide, only one, Yoga Gives Back, specifically engages global practitioners to give back to Mother India.

In 2007, Kayoko Mitsumatsu began to practice yoga.  She experienced such tremendous mental and physical benefits that she felt a strong calling to give back to Mother India.

While working as a documentary filmmaker, Kayoko learned about micro-financing, specifically for underserved women in developing countries to start their own income-earning work, and the remarkable impact for the recipients and their families to end the vicious cycle of generations of poverty. Fifteen years ago, when she shared this story with those in her yoga class in Los Angeles, they all supported her vision. Thus, this became Kayoko’s mission…to give back to Mother India for the gift of yoga by providing micro-loans and scholarships to these underserved mothers and daughters. Her mantra became,

“For the cost of one yoga class, you can change a life.”
