DONITA DEVANCE United Nations Liaison, Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. For more than four decades, Donita Devance has worked to improve the condition of disadvantaged and underserved populations and actively championed solutions to the issues they face. Her work spans a broad array of topics, including health and health care equity, healthy aging, digital inclusion, improving urban education, female prisoner reentry, diversity and inclusion, and social justice, social policy, and community engagement. Devance is an Associate Director at the Office of University-Community Partnerships/Center for Health Equity and Community Engagement at Rutgers University-Newark. As a grant writer, planner, and evaluator, she endeavors to connect the rich resources of the University’s faculty, staff, students, and facilities to the needs of community change agents at the local, state, regional and national levels. These partnerships catalyze community engagement, solution-building, collaborative research, planning, evaluation, and incubating innovative programs. Devance is a proud 40 - year member of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc., where she has held various leadership positions at the local level and serves nationally as the sorority’s United Nations Liaison. She is an active member of Delta Kappa Sigma Alumnae chapter and has also served as liaison and social action chair for the National Panhellenic Council of Central New Jersey.
