Doris W. Gelbman is a private, solo attorney whose practice is focused entirely on Elder Law. Doris spent the 10 years of her early career living and traveling in 35 different countries. Gelbman later returned to the U.S. and began her formal education at age 37 earning her B.A. summa cum laude in History from Salisbury University (Maryland) and her Juris Doctor (J.D.) from New England Law in Boston at age 45.
In Boston, Gelbman practiced at the firm of Bernkopf Goodman LLP in the complex civil litigation department. She later moved to Charlottesville, Virginia to be closer to her aging parents and new grandchildren. While awaiting her Virginia law license, she volunteered at the Legal Aid Justice Center in the Elder Law Initiative and for Jefferson Board on Aging (JABA) where she served as a volunteer Ombudsman, advocating for residents of nursing facilities.
In 2009, she opened her own office where she exclusively practices Elder Law. In 2016, she opened the multi-disciplinary “Center for Elder Services.”
