CHINA LOVE takes us on a billion-dollar ride of fantasy exploring contemporary China through the window of the pre-wedding photography industry. The film is a feature length observational documentary which follows Chinese and Australian participants as they navigate love, weddings and family in the lead up to the most important ritual of Chinese society – getting married.
CHINA LOVE is directed and produced by Olivia Martin-McGuire, produced by Rebecca Barry and Madeleine Hetherton, and features documentary subject Allen Shi the owner of the Jiahao Group.

Bio:
Olivia Martin-McGuire is an Australian documentary photographer based in Shanghai. She has exhibited her work widely, shoots for various International publications and companies (most specifically, in China, The Australian Financial Review) and is part of the popular Instagram group of documentary photo & video storytellers called “Eyes on China” project. She directed two short films early on in her career, which screened as part of LOUD festival on ABC and a few International Festivals. Having a Hons degree in Photomedia – she recently completed an intensive course in documentary making at AFTRS and is now moving her storytelling skills into the filmmaking field. She has been working on a long-term stills project on Chinese Pre-wedding photography and has a selection of her work featured in TIME Magazine lightbox. This is the story she is hoping to transform into an observational documentary.
