Born in Baltimore, Maryland and raised in southern California, Kimberley A. Johnson is the host of the Start Me Up podcast, an author, an activist for women’s rights and has written for HuffPost. She is the the Director of Media and Public Relations Spokesperson for the national advocacy group We Are Woman. Her first foray into fiction is a Young Adult novel inspired by one of her favorite authors, Judy Blume, and is titled Peyton’s Choice.

Her entry into the women’s rights movement began when she was asked to be the spokesperson for RTSV United during the 2012 election season and in the summer of 2012, she gave a speech at the We Are Woman rally on the west lawn of the Capitol Building in Washington D.C. She is also a political blogger and is well known for her outspoken stance on the need to enshrine women’s rights into the U.S. Constitution. She encourages all Americans to participate in the political process.

While in her 20s she studied the Meisner Technique at Dvorak & Company acting studio and worked in several commercials and television programs. Her most prominent role, a police officer on the popular daytime drama Days Of Our Lives, continued for over seven years.

She now resides in Washington DC, where she spends her days writing, podcasting and working to further women’s rights.
