Janine Sternlieb is a lover of literature, history, and theatre, In her role as a playwright, she combines all three. She created a call-in radio book club in Sonoma County, CA and interviewed such luminaries as Mary Karr, Michael Frayn, Ursula Hegi, and Tom Stoppard. She produced a writing contest of short plays on the subject of Thomas Jefferson and Sally Hemings. Her contribution, set on the day Jefferson died, was titled Mistress of Monticello.
She wrote The Four Sisters or Time’s Up!: a Chekhovian Guide to Climate Change.
When she isn't writing and producing theatrical works, she is raising money for pro-democracy get-out-the-vote efforst. She received a BA in English from Oberlin College and an MA in teaching from Boston University.
