Just like factory-farmed land animals, farmed fish are kept in crowded cages and given feed that contains chemicals, antibiotics, and pesticides. Therefore, it's best to go wild-caught, when given the choice between wild-caught or farm-raised fish.

We, also, have to take into account the mercury content factor. Human exposure to high levels of this hazardous element can impair the nervous system, brain, and heart.

But, there are four of the healthiest fish which contain low levels of mercury.
