By 1997, Miguel Ricart had been a prisoner of the Spanish Civil Guard for over four years. He had been in their custody since January of 1993, awaiting trial for the murder of three teenage girls from Alcasser.

Ricart would find an unlikely ally in one of the victim's parents, Fernando Garcia. Garcia wasn't interested in saving Miguel's life; rather, he was concerned that the prosecutor had developed tunnel vision on Miguel, and ignored any other potential leads or clues.

In this episode, I focus on everything that happened after the initial police investigation, including the trial of Miguel Ricart, Fernando Garcia's partnership with an esteemed true crime author, and the theories that have cropped up in the decades since.
