John's journey into Wellness is an inspiring story of a man who experienced, as we all do, the trial and tribulations of life. In conversation with John, I felt how strong his light is, as well as, his mission to inspire others on his Youtube Channel with his various topics on Mental Health, Men's Body Image, Fat to Fit.

Bio -

Born in Madison, WI, John graduated from La Crosse Aquinas High School in 1999.  He spent the first two years pursuing his degree at the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities.  He would then graduate from Indiana State University with a Bachelors of Music Education in December of 2004.

He started teaching in January 2005 at Dugger Elementary and Union Jr/Sr High School in Dugger, IN.  The following summer he was hired to be the band director at Crawford County Jr/Sr High School in Marengo, IN.  He developed that program from a school without a marching band to a 5th place state finish in 2015.  In 2017-2020 he worked as the Head Band Director at the Progreso Independent School District in Progreso, TX, before becoming the Head Band Director for Huffman Independent School District in Huffman, TX.

John had a unique opportunity to prepare an ensemble as a director while he was still in high school.  He also spent his summers between 1995-2000 marching in the Blue Stars Drum and Bugle Corps.  It was this experience, along with his education, that gave him the idea of perhaps focusing his skills to motivate students to achieve something that was beyond their realm of possibility, and to be inspired by their own achievements.  After 15 years of teaching, he started his 'Positivity and Well-being' Youtube channel to expand his messages of motivation, understanding, empathy, and consistent improvement.
