Welcome to Blog Talk Radio and the Voice of Change. I'm Sharon Ann Wikoff and today's program is entitled: Living Principles: Practicing Loving - Kindness. Loving Kindness, in the Buddhist Tradition is about the intention of and capacity to bring joy and happiness to another person or living being, Maitri is the Buddhist word they use for this type of intention.   I would also add that it is about being respectful, honoring, kind and loving in all relationships...thought, word and deed. These Living Principles were inspired from an experience I had revolving around a caged animal, which brought to mind the 5 Mindfulness Training practices Thich Nhat Hanh wrote about in his book: For a Future To Be Possible.  In his book he wrote:" To promote the well-being of people, animals, plants, and minerals, we have to come together as a community and examine our situation, exercising our intelligence and our ability to look deeply so that we can discover appropriate ways to express our maitri in the midst of real problems. Another aspect of this practice comes from being generous enough to share your time, energy and material resources with those in real need?  How would the world you live in benefit from the practice of Loving Kindness? Do you see others practicing generosity to make a difference?  How do you feel about these practices?  Join the conversation, call in!
