On Thursday, May 17th, we will open the 10 a.m. hour reviewing the latest news that impacted Westchester County politics.

At 11 a.m. Aleksandra Djukic, MD, Director, Tri-State Rett Syndrome Center, Montefiore Medical Center, will speak to us about the signs and symptoms of the genetic defects most often affecting girls. Researchers at Montefiore Medical Center have identified, in a pilot study, published in the April edition of Pediatric Neurology, children with Rett Syndrome, who cannot speak or use their hands to communicate. Dr Djukic will explain how patients are affected in terms of their communication abilities, treatment options and the results of her study. Juxtaposed to  the human condition is the corrective ability that offers hope in the animal model that mimics the human condition.
