Dr. Naseer Alomari is our welcomed guest who invariably joins us in our attempt to keep up and make sense of the fluid events consuming The Middle East and Western Africa with his insight into the still simmering Arab Spring two years since its inception. The murder of a secular, leftist contrarian to the present Tunisian government took place at the birthplace of the Arab Spring. It also was the second time a government collapsed under the passion of discontent. This while the sacred writing of Timbuktu have been salvaged from the Salafi insurgent forces that attempted to rob Mali of the scared gifts it was bequeathed. Egypt President Morsi is host to a three-day visit by Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad amid continuing protest in Cairo. The Syrian diaspora grows in Lebanon, Turkey, Jordan, Iraq, and Egypt. Bulgaria implicates Hezbollah behind the bus filled with Israeli tourists bombed in July of last year, yet Hezbollah denies involvement. The rape of women in Cairo continues as it does in India. Syrian President Bashar al-Assad accuses Israel of destabilizing Syria’s plight. Three dozen killed in police headquarters in Kirkuk, Iraq. The U.N. calls on Israel to remove over 500,000 settlers calling the Israeli practice “creeping annexation”.
