The “featured” BlogTalkRadio program “Westchester On the Level with Narog and Aris” opens the Thursday, July 10, 2014th broadcast day at 10:00 a.m. EDT with our guest, Angela Peabody, author of the award-winning fictional novel When the Games Froze, and president of the Global Woman P.E.A.C.E. Foundation (http://www.GlobalWomanPEACEFoundation.org ). Her interview with host Hezi Aris will focus on her mission to eradicate gender-based violence, and speak to the practice of FGM, female genital mutilation. FGM is defined as any and all procedure that involve partial or total removal of the female genitals or other female genital organs for non-medical reasons. FGM is practiced as a cultural ritual by ethnic groups in 27 countries in sub-Saharan and Northeast Africa, and to a lesser degree in Asia, the Middle East, and within immigrant communities in Europe, the U.S., Canada and some parts of South America. It is typically conducted with or without anesthesia by a traditional circumciser using a razor or knife on girls from a few weeks old to puberty. It is a “tradition” outlawed by United Nations decree yet continues unabated to this day.
