WESTCHESTER COUNTY, NY -- Ossining Village Mayor Victoria Gearity speaks to the proposed and approved construction for a round-about that was on March 3, 2017th contested by Gayle Machica, president of the Greater Ossining Chamber of Commerce. In that letter, presented to Ossining Village Clerk Mary Roberts, the assertions that a petition to override the go ahead on the roundabout to replace the intersection of Main and Spring Streets had lacked credibility because the minimum number of signatures fell short of the 20percent valid signatures required to call for a referendum. It seems out of 2,683 signatures submitted, 1,048 were unqualified to sign the petition because they lacked standing for not being residents of the Village of Ossining. Corporation Counsel Stuart Kahan rejected the document petitioning for a referendum as invalid. Kahan noted that a 30-day time frame to petition for a referendum was eclipsed last week and further that Village Law precludes a second go on the issue

The Village of Ossining Board of Trustees authorized for the ability to borrow $500,000 for the buildout of the roundabout by a vote of 4 to 1 to authorize up to $500,000, to be covered by borrowing, for construction of the roundabout this summer.

Mayor Victoria Gearity speaks to the studied fiscal, safety, and environmental efficacy of the roundabout said the roundabout would save money, be safer for pedestrians and improve traffic flow.

Yonkers Tribune Editor-at-Large Hezi Aris speaks to other hyperlocal, county, state, national and international news with analysis after Mayor Gearity, from 10:30am onward. the broadcast concludes at 12Noon.
