Dwaine Perry, Vietnam war Veteran and Chief of the Ramapough Lenape Nation, has been an advocate of social justice and indigenous rights. Chief Perry is currently leading the fight to protect the last piece of Ramapough-owned ceremonial land, “Split Rock Sweetwater Prayer Camp,” which has become a contentious issue since the tribe erected teepees in solidarity with Standing Rock and all who resist the black snake and/or Two Clouds, who is a Ramapough Lenape tribal member and full-time water protector. Two Clouds is especially focused on indigenous sovereignty and the fight against the Pilgrim Pipeline that threatens local water. They join Mayor Gearity in discussion of the film! “Awake: A Dream From Standing Rock” at the Budarz Theatre on Thursday, September 14th at 6:15pm.
