WRSP presents the second weekly episode of the Weekend Sports Huddle with co-hosts Tom Pollin and Dave Holcomb. It seems like ages ago, but since our last show, the Cleveland Cavaliers defeated the Golden State Warriors in Game 7 to capture the first World Championship in franchise history and the first one in Cleveland sports since 1964. We will recap the fall out from this great victory for Cleveland with guest star Max Zelenko.
Free agency in the NBA and NHL doesn't start until July, but that hasn't stopped the Chicago Bulls and Blackhawks from beginning their offseason plans. Last week, we discussed how trading Bryan Bickell's contract should have opened up salary cap space in order for Blackhawks general manager Stan Bowman to re-sign forward Andrew Shaw. Bowman apparently has other plans because Chicago shipped Shaw to Montreal for two second-round picks. In an even more curious move, the Bulls traded former MVP Derrick Rose to the New York Knicks. Pollin will share his thoughts on both trades from Chicago.
There's also potential for a blockbuster trade for the Penguins with goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury, but Holcomb argues that Fleury is more valuable on Pittsburgh's roster than on the trade market. Then to end the show, Pollin and Holcomb will share their general thoughts on the NBA & NHL first rounds.
