Weekend Sports Huddle With Tom Pollin and Dave Holcomb

WRSP presents the ninth weekly episode of Weekend Sports Huddle with co-hosts Tom Pollin and Dave Holcomb. Tom Pollin is flying the show solo today and will open with the skyrocketing Chicago Cubs.

The Cubs are on an 11 game win streak and have won 14 of their last 15 to leave the rest of Major League Baseball eating their dust. They're six games up on the Nationals for the best record in the National League and and 5.5 up on the Texas Rangers for the best record in baseball. Tom will examine their latest surge and also take a brief look at how the rest of the playoff race is shaping up.

Next, Alex Rodriguez played the final game of his career last night. Arod started his career with the Seattle Mariners as one of the most exciting players in baseball but his reputation became tarnished by his association with PED's. How will that affect his Hall of Fame chances since for the early part of his career he was considered a certain HOF'er.

The Olympic Games, are you watching? The U.S. Swim Team, both men and ladies, are tearing up the competition. Michael Phelps' record of winning may never be approached again and Katie Ledecky leads the powerful women's team.

Also, while the swimmers pool looks pristine the diving pool is turning green. A German diver was quoted the other day saying that the building, "smells like a fart." Everybody knew going in that Rio would be struggling to host these games. What else could go wrong?
