Billie Calvin and Brenda Evans had been part of a group called The Delicates in the 1960s. They were introduced to Motown by singer Bobby Taylor, when The Delicates broke up in 1970, the two began providing background vocals for artists around Motown. Joe Harris had been part of a Detroit soul group called The Fabulous Peps. Formed in 1962. Joe Harris also became a member of The Ohio Untouchables (later The Ohio Players). In 1970, Motown producer Norman Whitfield put together Joe Harris, Billie Calvin, and Brenda Evans to create his own recording act, The Undisputed Truth. Their single top hit in the U.S " SMILING FACES SOMETIMES" originally recorded by The Temptations, which hit #3 on the U.S.pop charts in mid-1971. The Motown group that brought you the hit song from the 70s - Smiling Faces Sometimes returns after nearly 50 years with new members and a daring new CD entitled - Truth Gon' Set You Free. The album is a slick R&B groove infused with clever additions of rock, funk, and jazz. The project takes listeners on a suspenseful musical journey from start to finish and features some of Detroit's finest musicians including Motown Guitarist - Dennis Coffey; Bassist - Ralphe Armstrong; Drummer - Gayelynn McKinney; and many others. Original singer - Joe 'Pep" Harris delivers powerful lead vocals that are truly timeless while the soulful vocals of BJ Evans (also an original member), Dazee Love, and Jaki G solidify this socially-conscious project.
