In this segment of Critical Discourse, we will continue our discussion with Dr. Barney Wilson, Principal at The Reginald Lewis High School in Baltimore, Maryland. Regretfully, Sister Zakiyah Ansari will not available, but we hope to have her back, soon.
As we expressed some of our frustrations, agreements and disagreements with regards to the entrance examination process for selection into New York City top public schools and education in general, the focus this time, will be on solutions, as we move forward and upward.
We will discuss in depth, the Common Core State Standards Initiative, which is slated to begin in 2014, and is touted as the solution, to the curriculum disparities which many believe, contributes to the problems, such as poor performance on Specialized High School Entrance Exams.
So, be sure to tune in this Saturday, October 20th, for what I am sure will be yet another thought-provoking discourse – Critical Discourse. Call us with your thoughts, ideas, suggestions, solutions, as all hands are needed on deck, to assure the success of our children, and in a real sense, ourselves.
