Critical Discourse: A Reflection and Assessment on Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

As-Salaam-Alaikum,

Strange as it may seem, the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., has not been a topic of discussion, on Critical Discourse. As his birthday is to be celebrated this Monday, January 15th, what better time of the year, to reflect on him, his accomplishments and legacy?

This, in light of the myriad of controversial comments and opinions, expressed at the highest levels of government, both positive and negative, as well as statements, made by those, claiming to be legacy-holders of this man, much needs to be clarified, in order for people, particularly of the U.S.A., to order to operate under the ideals that Dr. King and others, fought so hard to establish.

Despite those who do claim to reflect his legacy, was Dr. King, a hard-left liberal? Would have supported illegal immigration or abortion on demand?

Did he believe in integration, to the point of diminishing the ideal of “Do for Self”? Was he really the consummate pacifist? And for those who claim to admire him for this, do they put it into practice?

Incidentally, I will update my position the Philadelphia Councilwoman, Cindy Bass, and the issue of store merchants’ right to erect bullet-proof protection for their bodegas (of sorts).
