Coach Robert Cagle serves as the National Director of Scouting and Recruiting/Expansion and Development for National Scouting Report. He joins us for a show dedicated to the recruiting process for college football. Coach Cagle has dedicated his life to helping young people achieve their personal, athletic, academic and spiritual goals and has been a part of the sports community for over 35 years. His combination of athletic talent and excellence in the classroom made Robert one of the top college prospects in the state and in the South.
After his senior football season, Robert signed his National Letter of Intent and football scholarship with The University of Mississippi ( OLE MISS). After his senior season of baseball in high school, he was approached by the Cincinnati Reds who wanted to draft Robert. He declined their offer and honored his commitment to OLE MISS and his dream of playing football. He began his career at Ole Miss in August 1986. At Ole Miss, Robert was named to the All-Southeastern Conference Freshmen Football team. He was twice named to the ALL SEC Academic Team in football. Robert was finally named to the OLE MISS Academic Football Hall of Fame for his accomplishments on the football field and in the classroom. He was consistently on the Dean’s List for academic achievements in the classroom. Robert’s aspirations and hopes to play professional sports was brought to an abrupt end during his 3rd year at OLE MISS when he received a career ending back injury during practice. Robert remained on scholarship serving as a recruiter and assistant to the Athletic department until he graduated with his Bachelors Degree in Business Administration in May 1990.
