Mr. Damareo Cooper
Damareo Cooper is the Organizing Director for the Ohio Organizing Collaborative and the Lead Organizer for Standup Ohio. Both of these organizations work on pressing social and economic issues such as voting rights and the mass incarceration of non-violent offenders. Since 2011, Damareo and his staff have successfully facilitated over 10,000 new voter registrations. In his hometome of Akron, Ohio, Damareo has provided powerful and effective community leadership for advocacy and actions regarding home foreclosures, the school to prison pipeline, and most recently, arousing 300 community members for the passing of a fair hiring policy. Damareo has also provided leadership for the establishment of the East Akron Unification Committee, whose members are committed to enhancing the living conditions for the residents of their community.
