Behind Brain Injury Masks
SURVIVING HEAD TRAUMA with TERRY SMITH
Celebrating Halloween is a fun time of year for many children and adults to dress up in costume and be someone or something else for a night of fun. For people with TBI, that mask is not always so easily removed.
This episode is about TBI survivors living a dual life behind a mask of being normal while internally, a persistent wreck is occurring. On this show, we’ll talk about how to release inhibitions that TBI can inflict and thrive in feeling the power of inclusion.
At the top of the show, Jill Hill, CPRS-F, Project AWARE Program Coordinator, Advocate, Speaker, Trainer, Mental Health America / Jacksonville System of Care Initiative/Federation of Families, will help children and adults remove their masks revealing themselves while living with an indescribable brain injury.
Our next guest, Janet Elliott, is a Life Coach, Psychotherapist, and Care Coordinator at Sunshine State Health Plan, Inc. She will help us learn why survivors create masks to cover deficits and how learning to live through the scary first days of brain injury is vital to a lifetime of being mask free. She can be reached at: jelle7195@gmail.com
