In Jamaica, prostate cancer accounts for almost a third of all cancers diagnosed . Arguably, Jamaica has the highest incidence of prostate cancer in the world, based on a reported rate of 304/100,000 per year by Glover in 1998 . Consistent reports of the Jamaica Cancer Registry document that prostate cancer is the most common cancer overall as well as the most common cancer in men; however, the age-standardized incidence rate of 78.1/100,000 per year is much lower than that of Glover’s report . It is also the most common cause of male cancer-related deaths, with an age-standardized mortality rate of 53.9/100,000 per year .
